Maharana Pratap of Mewar is widely celebrated in Indian historiography as the valiant Rajput ruler who, despite defeat at Haldighati, waged a relentless struggle against the Mughal Empire. This research paper re-evaluates his biography and resistance strategy, scrutinizing primary and secondary sources to discern historical fact from legend, and assessing the broader implications of his guerrilla warfare tactics. Through this reassessment, the paper aims to move beyond mythic narratives, situating the Maharana’s legacy within the context of regional resistance and political resilience in early modern India. |
